Monster attack

menu
Placeholder

A monster will attack on its turn if “Attack±X” is part of its ability card.

(it will not attack otherwise)

Any damage dealt is calculated from its base attack value (found on its monster statistic card) and modified by X (either positive or negative).

Monsters will always attack their focused enemies.

If the monster can attack multiple targets, it will attack its focused enemy and as many other enemies as possible to maximum effect.

If a monster has multiple attacks, it will choose the focus of its other attacks following normal focus rules, excluding figures it is already attacking.

Any attack that does not specify a range on the monster ability card should use the base range of the monster written on its stat card.

If this is a range attack the target must be in Line of Site in order for the attack to happen.

Monster attacks function exactly like character attacks, and are calculated by:

1 - Start with base monster attack stat .

Example: Start with a base damage of 3.

1 - Add the attacker’s attack bonuses (usually from attack modifier cards).

Example: This would increase the guards basic attack stat by 1. The new total would be 4.

2 - Draw an attack modifier card from the monster attack modifier deck, and add or subtract that value.

Example: This would increase the attack damage by 2. The new total would be 6.

Monster attacks may be performed with Advantage or Disadvantage, take this into account when drawing an attack modifier card.

3 - Subtract the defense bonuses of their target.

This could come from varying effects but the most common is ability cards and items.

'

Example: If the brute had the bottom part of this card in their Active area the total attack damage would be reduced by 1. The new total would be 5.

4 - Apply that much damage to the character. They may lose hit points equal to this amount or lose cards.

Example: The final total was 5.

Remember if there were multiple targets for this attack. Repeat these steps 1-4 for each target of the attack (drawing a new attack modifier card for each separate target).
