During a player’s turn, the two played cards will be used to perform actions and then are either discarded, lost, or activated, depending on the actions that were taken.
Played cards are normally placed in a player’s discard pile unless otherwise noted (having the lost symbol ).
Discarded cards can be returned to a player’s hand through resting.
Short rest: This allows that player to immediately shuffle his or her discard pile and randomly place one of the cards in the lost pile, then return the rest of the discarded cards to his or her hand.
This is done at the end of a players turn if desired.
Long rest: Player must choose to lose one of his or her discarded cards, then return the rest of the discarded cards to his or her hand.
This is done on initiative 99 if a player chooses this option instead of playing cards.
Some actions may contain an active effect. Instead of being placed in the discard, the card is placed in the active area in front of the player to keep track of the effect.
Once the effect wears off, the card is then transferred to the appropriate pile.
These cards are considered discarded and can be placed in the discard pile at anytime.
Certain abilities allow a player to recover discarded ability cards. This means that the player can look through his or her discard pile (or discarded cards in his or her active area), select up to a number of cards specified in the ability, and immediately return them to his or her hand.
The type of card gained is specified in the ability.
