Encounter: Attempt to evade, acquire, or defeat a card; also, the process of doing so. See the Encountering a Card section for more details.
Escape: Shuffle a villain and other cards into unguarded locations after resolving the encounter. See the Determine Whether the Villain Escapes section for more details.
Evade: End the encounter with a card without interacting with its powers. See the Apply Any Evasion Effects section for more details.
Examine: Look at one or more cards in a stack. See the Searching and Examining section for more details.
Explore: Encounter a card in your location. See the Explore section for more details.
Favored Card: A card type and/or trait that a character’s starting hand must contain one or more of. See the Draw Starting Hands section for more details.
Feat: A checkbox on your character that gives you access to improved skills, powers, or more cards. See the Feats section for more details.
Freely: Not counting toward the usual limit of playing one of each type of boon on a check or step or while suffering damage. See the Encountering a Card and the Suffering Damage sections for more details.
Guard: Prevent a villain from escaping to a distant location. See the Attempt to Guard Distant Locations section for more details.
Hand Size: The number of cards you draw to form your hand. See the Hand Size section for more details.
Heal: Shuffle cards from your discards into your deck. See the Healing section for more details.
Henchman: A type of story bane. See the Story Banes section for more details.
Hero Point: A reward you can spend to gain feats, reroll dice on your check, or return from death. See the Hero Points section for more details.
