Owner: A trait that lets a specific character treat that card as level 0. See the Owner Trait section for more details.

Party: Your group of characters. See the Object of the Game section for more details.

Pawn: A token that indicates the location your character is at. See the Choose Your Character section for more details.

Play: Activate a power on a card that’s in your hand or displayed. See the Playing Cards section for more details.

Power: A paragraph on a card or in the storybook that affects the game in some way. See the Active and Optional Powers section for more details.

Proficiency: A power that lets you use specific cards in an improved way. You are proficient with a card if you are proficient with its card type or any of its traits. See the Proficiencies section for more details.

Proxy: A substitute card used when multiple copies of a story bane are needed; see the Prepare the Story Banes section for more details. Additionally, some cards require you to shuffle a proxy for your character into a location; see the Character Proxies in Locations section for more details.

Rebuild: Reassemble your deck after a scenario. See the Rebuilding section for more details.

Recharge: Put a card on the bottom of your deck. See the Recharge section for more details.

Recovery: A part of the end of each turn when you may be able to prevent some cards in the recovery pile from being returned to the vault. See the End Your Turn section for more details.

Recovery Pile: A pile into which you place cards you play by banishing that have recovery powers. See the Banish and the End Your Turn sections for more details.

Reload: Place a card on top of your deck. See the Reload section for more details.

Reroll: Roll the dice again on a check. See the Roll the Dice section for more details.

Reset: Optionally discard any number of cards, then discard down to or draw up to your hand size. See the Resetting section for more details.

Resistant: Negatively affecting a character’s check to defeat. If a card is resistant to a trait on your check, subtract 4. See the Roll the Dice section for more details.

Reveal: Show a card from your hand, then put it back. See the Reveal section for more details.

Role: A card that provides new powers for your character. See the Roles section for more details.
