Shuffle the deck of Backstory cards and the deck of Alignment cards separately. Deal one Backstory card and one Alignment card to each player, and give each player a Player Aid card. Return any unused Backstory, Alignment, and Player Aid cards to the box.

Each player places their Backstory and Alignment cards on their Character Sheet and takes the two tracking tokens of their Class color. One is placed on the center space of their Alignment card. The other is placed on their Class card.
