If the Frontrunner is off the Track, does the next closest Racer to the Finish Line get two Fans?
If they are still on the Track, yes. In order to receive the two Fans, a Racer must be on the Track (they are represented by their Racer Meeple, not their Skull Marker) and they are the closest to the Finish Line.
Can I use a Racer Ability while Showboating?
Yes, but doing so will void your Gold Carrot reward. In order to receive a Gold Carrot for Showboating you must complete your Turn (including Staggers) without entering a space with Terrain, falling off the Track, or using a Racer Ability.
Can I forfeit part of my move to avoid going off the Track/into Terrain?
No.
You must move the full amount of your die roll, in the direction chosen.
Can I move backwards?
Not with Movement Dice. Movement Dice can only move a Racer in one of the three forward directions.
We ran out of Event Cards and have to reshuffle the deck. Does the "Gunshot!" Event Card go back on top of the deck?
No.
If the Event Deck is shuffled during the middle of a race, "Gunshot!" is shuffled with it.
What happens to Fans that are already on Terrain during the "Who Turned Out the Lightnin' Bugs" Event?
Any Fans that have been previously placed on Terrain may stay on those spaces during this Event. This only impacts Fans that would be placed this Turn.
Can the Waldgeist use "Sticks on Stones" when Rammed onto Rocks?
No.
Abilities can only be used on your own Movement Turn.
Who chooses which Fan to lose?
It depends on the game effect, as some are specific. For falling off the Track, the Racer determines which of their Fans to remove.
Are Skull Markers objects? Can they be Rammed?
If no Racers are on the Track, who gains the Fans during the Fan Phase?
How do I get more Gold Carrot tokens to use with Abilities?
Gold Carrots can be gained from certain Jockey Cards and by Showboating (see Roll and Resolve Movement).
Can I use an Ability on another player's Turn?
No
Abilities can only be used on your own Movement Turn.
How does the Rooster's "The Pecking Order" work if I have remaining moves?
If you hit a Racer with the Rooster, and have remaining movement on your Movement Die, you may utilize "The Pecking Order" to move one space in any direction prior to continuing your movement in its original direction. The bonus space can be in any direction, but the continued movement must be along the same direction. For example: The Rooster moves straight forward and hits a Racer, while having two moves left on its Movement Die. Using "The Pecking Order," the player decides to move one space forward-left then continue moving two spaces straight forward from there.
Can I use an Ability in the middle of a move?
Yes
You can use each Ability once, at any point, during your Turn. For example, the Rabbit's "No Cause Fur Alarm" can be used to give a Stagger token to another Racer that you pass by during a move.
If I gain a Stagger token while Staggering, what happens?
You gain the token for the next Turn. This happens most often when Staggering into Water or off the Track. Stagger tokens can be gained at various times, but are only resolved immediately after resolving Movement Dice on your Turn.
Is the Stagger Die rolled for each Stagger token discarded?
No
The Stagger Die is rolled once, and the Racer staggers in one direction for the entire distance indicated by the discarded tokens.
What happens if I stagger off the Track?
Probably a big crashing sound. Maybe some snickering from other Racers. But seriously, you follow the Falling Off the Track rules.
Is there a maximum number of Stagger tokens a Racer can have?
Yes
A Racer can have a maximum of three Stagger tokens. Any excess is disregarded. Remember to discard your Stagger tokens before rolling the Stagger Die, as new tokens may be gained.
Do I have to resolve all my Stagger tokens?
Yes
After resolving your Movement Dice on your Turn, you must discard all of your Stagger tokens and stagger accordingly.
Can a Racer be placed on the Starting Line?
Yes
Racers can set up anywhere on the Starting Track Piece, including on the Starting Line.
Does the first Racer to reach the Finish Line win?
Maybe
The winner is the Racer with the most Fans. The first Racer to reach the Finish Line gains three Fans for doing so, but if another Racer has a higher total of Fans, they win. It's all about who ends up the gremlins' favorite.
Are these Fan cubes mini marshmallows?
No!
Do not put gremlins in your cocoa!
What if an Event Card can't be resolved?
Sometimes the needed conditions of an Event Card are not in place, in which case a portion of the event, or possibly its entirety, is disregarded. Resolve as much of the Event Card as can be. For example, "Catch Up or be Ketchup" takes Fans from behind Racers and moves them forward. If there are no Fans behind a particular Racer, that Event Card has no effect on them.
Can I use an Ability in between Movement Dice?
Yes.
If you are in between dice and hit a Barrel or Water, you don't have a current die to end!
What do I do when two effects tell me to do something at the same time?
If it is your Turn, then you get to choose the order in which those effects occur.
I just landed on Water Terrain but don't have any dice to discard. I still have Staggers to resolve. Do I resolve those Staggers or do I end my Turn?
You would resolve any Staggers left before your Turn ends. Conversely, if you were on Rocks Terrain instead (or any effect that immediately ends your Turn), you would not resolve any Staggers, as your Turn has ended.
If a Fan gets moved onto Terrain, what happens?
Nothing.
Gremlin Fans quite like watching the race from on top of rocks and knee-deep in puddles.
If you start your Turn in Terrain, what happens?
Nothing.
The effects of Terrain apply when you enter the space. On the following Turn you leave the space without effect (but suffer the effects of any new space you enter).
I Staggered into Rocks and still have Stagger distance to resolve. What do I do?
Your Turn immediately ends when you enter Rocks Terrain. Your additional Stagger distance is disregarded.
Does a moving Barrel follow the curve of a Turn Piece, or continue in a straight line?
Directions are maintained following the path of the Track. So a Barrel moving straight forward would keep to its Lane, even as it bends through the turn.
When is Turn Order determined?
Turn Order is constantly in flux as Racers move and change positions to each other. Therefore it is always evaluated in its current state, whenever Turn Order is needed. When resolving Movement Turns, the next Turn goes to the Racer furthest from the Finish Line that still has a Jockey Card left to resolve.
How does being off the Track affect your Turn Order?
A Racer's Skull Marker is counted when determining Turn Order. The Racer is considered to be at that position - just not on the Track.
Some spaces on the curved Track Pieces make it difficult to tell where I can move. What do I do?
There are a few spaces on the Turn Track Pieces where different directions might take a Racer into the same space. For example, forward-left and backward-left might lead into the same space. In these cases, use your best judgment to stay true to the chosen direction.
