The Basic abilities are found at the bottom of the Rank track. Above them (to the right of the Rank track) is the set of Progressive abilities, each of them more powerful than the one below. Remember, all of these abilities are only active during the turn you use your Captain (unless explicitly stated otherwise).

• Each time you contain 1 Corruption, you may gain 1 Science and 1 Tactics.

• During a maneuver with your Captain using a Fighter, Dropship, or Frigate you may take 1 extra movement step.
Right: During an attack with your Captain:
• Using a Fighter or Frigate, up to 4 times, you may spend 1 Science to deal 1 extra damage.
• Using a Fighter or Frigate, up to 4 times, you may spend 2 Science to deal 1 extra damage.

• You may store 1 Corruption on this board. This Corruption space can be used during the turn of any Crew member. The same rules apply to this space as for the extra Corruption space on Frigate card #2 Decontamination Chambers (see Operation Cards - Frigate).
When taking the Cleanse Bonus action with your Captain to contain the Corruption from this space, you do not need to spend Energy or discard an Operation card.
Left: During landing on a planet with your Captain:
• You have every ability of Ranks 1 and 2.
• You have the ability of Rank 1. In addition to that, you may gain 1 Discovery Data cube (on top of what you would normally gain).
• You may land on occupied planets with your Captain. You gain no Discovery Data cube when doing so.

Right: When using a Dropship with your Captain:
• You may destroy 1 Voidborn ship in your sector. You may also place 1 Shield in your sector and/or gain 1 Energy. You may only place 1 Shield regardless of how many sectors you move through. You may destroy the Voidborn ship in a different sector than where you place the Shield.
• You may destroy 1 Voidborn ship in your sector. You can only do this once, even if you move through multiple sectors. You may do this even after you landed on a planet.

• You have the ability of Rank 2, but after destroying up to 2 Voidborn ships, you may gain 2 Tactics instead of 1.
• You may choose up to 2 Fighters either in your sector or in an adjacent sector. They can be in the same or different sectors. Destroy 1 Voidborn ship in each Fighter's sector. After this you may gain 1 Tactics in addition to the Tactics you got from destroying the Voidborn ships.
• You have the ability of Rank 0. After using that ability, you may gain 1 Tactics.
• You may choose 1 Fighter either in your sector or an adjacent sector, then destroy 1 Voidborn ship in the sector with the chosen Fighter.

• You have the ability of Rank 2.

• When using a Fighter or Frigate, you may choose to remove a Shield and then deal up to 2 extra damage in the same sector. You can choose to remove the Shield without dealing damage, but you cannot choose to deal damage without removing the Shield.

• During a maneuver with your Captain using a Fighter, Dropship, or Frigate, you may take 1 extra movement step and/or place 1 Shield in your sector (any sector during your maneuver) and/or gain 1 Energy.

In addition to that: During the Gain Influence step with your Captain, you may choose not to gain Influence with the House you are supposed to, and instead gain 1 Tactics and gain Hidden Influence. Furthermore when you gain Hidden Influence this way, choose 2 of the drawn cards to keep, and discard the other 3.
• You have the ability of Rank 1. In addition to that: During the Gain Influence step with your Captain, you may choose not to gain Influence with the House you are supposed to, and instead gain 1 Tactics and gain Hidden Influence.
• You may completely forfeit every effect of the boarded ship, and instead copy the effects of an occupied Arkship in the same sector or either option of an occupied planet in the same sector. Find further rules on copying effects on page 15 of the Rulebook.
