Charging the Revenant’s Hyperdrive consumes precious resources. But if no one steps forward to fuel the engines, the fleet will be stranded—and that means doom, for the Rifts will never stop unleashing their horrors.
In the 4th Cycle, skip this phase entirely and proceed to Final Scoring (see Final Scoring).
In the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd Cycles, you must first check the position of the Phase Skip token of the current Cycle on the Sequence board:
A If it doesn’t cover the Rift phase space, then resolve the Rift phase.
B If it covers the Rift phase space of the track, then skip the Rift phase.
When resolving the Rift phase, take the following steps:
1 Roll the Rift die for each Rift, and place Voidborn ships on the map as shown on the die: the large central number in the sector with the Rift, and the small numbers in the two adjacent sectors. Each sector has a limit of 6 Voidborn ships; skip placing new ones when reaching it.
Example: The Rift die is rolled for the Rift in Sector 6 A. The die shows a large 3 B, so 3 Voidborn ships would be placed in Sector 6. However this would exceed the limit of 6 Voidborn ships, so only 1 is placed C. The die shows two small 1’s, so 1 Voidborn ship is placed in Sector 7 and Sector 5 each D.
2 Place 1 Discovery Data cube on each Planet card that does not have a Data cube on it.
3 Discard the 3 revealed Scanner cards.
4 Each player draws 2 or 3 Operation cards. The number is determined by their current Captain rank (see Captain and Rank).
5 Reveal new Scanner or Colony cards, depending on the current Cycle:
• 1st and 2nd Cycle: Reveal the 3
(2) or
(3) Scanner cards, respectively.
• 3rd Cycle: Instead of Scanner cards, reveal the top 3 Colony cards.
