Gameplay is divided into 3 sections: the Night Phase, the Day Phase, and Voting. Voting occurs differently depending on if players guess the Magic Word or not.

Players are divided into the Villager and Werewolf teams, both with different goals.

For the purposes of these rules, it is assumed only the basic characters are in use (Mayor, Villager, Seer, Werewolf). Other characters will do certain actions during the night phase and voting, as explained in their role-specific instructions.
