20 Strong is played in rounds. Each round has two parts: Activation and Engagement. Each part has a series of phases or steps.

Rounds continue until the dial reaches 0 or all heroes have either escaped or been defeated.

In multiplayer gameplay, players take turns going through a round. The first player resolves a full round, then the next player clockwise resolves the next round, and so on.
