Some cards have an Immediate Effect symbol, meaning that the described effect must be implemented right after the chosen card is taken. An immediate effect is not a cost to be paid, but an effect to be resolved.

However, the card is not considered to be a part of any of the players’ card piles until after the effect is completed. A card is not considered in a pile while its immediate effect takes place.
