Resolving Enemy Action Phase

If your Encounter is with an Enemy:

1. Assign Boost. Check your Boost and add it to either your Attack or your Initiative .

2. Determine Initiative. Check your Initiative (which may have been modified by your Boost ). If the Enemy’s Initiative is higher than yours, you will suffer the Enemy’s Attack as Early Damage during the Penalty Phase.

» If the Enemy has an Ability, consult Enemy abilities for additional rules that may apply.

» If you did not assign an Element, your Initiative is 0 (unless you modify it with your Boost ).

3. Calculate Attack. If your Element’s Ether element matches that of your Spell’s Enhanced Action, resolve the Enhanced Attack. Otherwise, resolve the Basic Attack.

4. Determine Outcome. If the Ether element of the Enemy’s Armor matches that of your Enhanced Attack, subtract the Enemy’s Armor from your Attack .

Then, compare your Attack . (which may have been modified by your Boost ) to your Enemy’s HP and consult the table below.

» If the Enemy has an Ability, consult Enemy abilities for additional rules that may apply.

Attack vs. HP: Attack equals or exceeds HP .

Outcome: Complete Victory: Collect the Enemy’s XP in the Upgrade Phase.

Attack vs. HP: Attack equals or exceeds half of HP (rounded up).

Outcome: Narrow Victory: Collect the Enemy’s XP in the Upgrade Phase, but also suffer its Combat Damage in the Penalty Phase.

Attack vs. HP: Attack is less than half of HP (rounded up).

Outcome: Loss: Suffer the Enemy’s Combat Damage in the Penalty Phase.
