1. Draw Your Hand. Take all the remaining Mage Cards from the Deck into your Hand.
2. Scout the Enemy. Check the three HP
Tiers on the Dragon Card. These run from lowest to highest, top to bottom. Each Tier has an HP
value and an Attack
.
3. Assign Roles. Use your cards to create two distinct Action Sets, as you did on the Final Journey, but this time generating Attack
.
Remember that if you have fewer than three Mage Cards in an Action Set, you must assign a Spell.
As previously, you can use an Action Set’s Boost
to increase that set’s Attack
or Initiative
. Once you have decided how to assign each set’s Boost
, add the two Attack
values of your Action Sets together to generate a Total Attack
, and add the two Initiative
values together to get a Total Initiative
.4. Compare Initiative. If your Total Initiative
fails to meet or exceed the Dragon’s Initiative
, you suffer the Dragon’s Early Damage (the value immediately below the Dragon’s name, not the value along the right edge of its card). Remember this damage for now; it will be added to the Dragon’s Combat Damage and suffered later.
5. Evaluate Armor. Each Dragon has Armor
that defends against one or more Ether elements. If the Dragon’s Armor
defends against an Enhanced Attack from either of your Action Sets, subtract the Dragon’s matching Armor
from your Total Attack
. Only do this once per matching Ether element.
» For example, if you launch two Enhanced Attacks of the same Ether element, you only subtract the Dragon’s matching Armor
once.
6. Attack the Dragon. After subtracting any relevant Armor
from your Total Attack
, compare the result to the Dragon’s HP
Tiers and consult the table below for the results.
7. Try to Survive. Add up the damage from the Dragon’s Early Damage (if your Total Initiative
was insufficient) and its Combat Damage. You must Soak this Total Damage and survive to win the game.
» You suffer damage the same way as before, by Downgrading the cards in your Hand.
»You can Soak damage with all of the cards in your Hand.
»As a reminder, you can only Downgrade each Mage Card once. If the Dragon’s Total Damage knocks you out, you lose the game. But if you are left standing, you win!
