In the remote land of Vale, the very earth pulses with magic. Long ago, questing mages discovered The Tear, a potent break in the fabric of reality and a window into the wondrous and terrifying realm of Etchinstone. Quickly realizing that the power emanating from The Tear could be manipulated and studied, the first mages constructed a tower to enclose the anomaly and control the magic that suffused the land of Vale.
But The Tear is not the only rift in Vale. Anomalies occur regularly all across the land, and Ether magic radiates outward, affecting the environment and endangering the people. These rifts are not windows into Etchinstone. They are doorways…
And through these doorways, dragons have returned to Vale! Long thought to be extinct, these winged monstrosities have emerged from Ether rifts and now stalk the land. People plead for aid from the mages of the Tower, and the elders have issued a proclamation:
“To all apprentice mages of the Tower, seek out these dragons, these villainous creatures who prey on the people of Vale. Journey through our harsh land, defeat any monsters you encounter, and hunt down the dragons. Should you prove successful, we shall bestow upon you the title of Ether Mage, and you will be hailed as a Protector of the Realm!”
Dragons of Etchinstone is a palm-playable game in which players fight as apprentice mages, journeying through the perilous Regions of Vale before challenging a fearsome dragon. Use Ether magic to overcome frightening Enemies and difficult Journeys, and effectively manage your Hand of Mage Cards to achieve victory.
To win Dragons of Etchinstone, you must traverse four Regions, make one Final Journey, and defeat a Final Enemy. You lose if you perish in the Final Battle.
