1. Place the assembled Tesseract Platform at the center of the table, with the Containment board on the right (as shown).
2. Shuffle the Containment cards (mini black and white cards) and deal one, face-down, to each rounded node along the edge of the Containment board (icon numbers 1-6). Return the rest to the box. They will not be used this time.
3. Separate the Research cards by Level, shuffle each deck, and place them face-down to the left of the Containment board.
4. Position the Breach mat below the Platform board. Place the Breach token on the number "O" space.
5. Give each player a yellow Lab mat and an Action token. The Action token is placed next to the mat. As you take Actions during your turn, you may use to token to keep track of how many actions you have remaining.
6. Shuffle the Researcher character cards and deal one to each player. Place it face-up next to your Lab. Read your character abilities aloud to the group.
We recommend random character selection to keep the game fresh from session to session, but you may opt to choose your research team as well.
SOLO PLAY: In a one-player game, set up two Labs, each with a Researcher. You will alternate play between both Researchers.
7. Each Researcher receives one LVL 2 Research card (blue) and places it face-up next to their Lab. Research cards are public information.
8. Each Researcher takes a cube (die) from one of the top corners of the Tesseract, rolls it and places it in their Lab.
9. Now, Prime the Tesseract by removing 2 additional cubes...
1 and 2 Players: Remove the 2 remaining top corner cubes.
3 Players: Remove the remaining top corner cube, then find and remove the lowest value corner cube on the next level down.
4 Players: Remove the lowest value corner cube, then take the cube directly below it as well.
These two cubes are now PRIMED by rolling them and placing them into the Primed Area (the left side of the Platform board), beneath their matching number icons.
