The Base Plates are the primary way to adjust the difficulty of the game, but there are additional means that you may try (and we enjoy!)
• No Starting Research Cards: Originally, the rules did not provide a free Research card at the beginning of the game for each Researcher. Starting the game without any Research cards removes the 2 to 4 "free" actions the cards provide and is an easy way to make the game a little more challenging. (Some of the design team still plays this way.)
• Prime more cubes during Set Up: By simply Priming another cube or two before the game begins, you increase the danger of Breaches more quickly AND reduce the number of cubes on the Tesseract, making the threat of losing (because all the cubes are gone) a bit more likely.
How many can you remove and still pull off a win?
