Magic Mountain is a cooperative game, so the players can only win or lose as a team. The game can also be played as a solo game.
The goal of the game is to get at least 4 blue student figures to the bottom goal tile before 3 black witch figures get there.
• On each turn a player picks a random a marble (will-o'-the-wisp) and chooses one of the six tracks on the top of the board to place it on.
• The will-o'-the-wisp then rolls through the gameboard (the forest) and whenever it hits a figure on its path (a student or a witch), the figure is moved down the path to the next available place with the color matching the will-o'-the-wisp. If no places of that color are left, then the figure is placed to the goal tile at the bottom of the track.
• The players win if at least 4 students get to the tile first, and lose if at least 3 witches reach to bottom.
