Marie gets 5 cards at the beginning of the phase. She decides to keep Relic for herself, then passes the 4 remaining cards to her left neighbour.

At the same time, she receives 4 cards from her right neighbour. She now keeps one again that she adds to her hand, before passing the 3 remaining cards to her left neighbour. And so on...
