If an area is full, can I remove Influence cubes from it to place new ones?
Usually no
On the 5-6 player map side there are STAR-shaped spaces that are special. If all STAR-shaped spaces in an area are full, you can still places your Influence cube into that area by removing an opponent's cube in it. You can't remove Influence cubes from areas that only have SQUARE-shape spaces.
