The cards in the Rose Garden are still considered to be in play. They are basically just moved aside when defeated so as not to block up the lanes, but still treated as defeated enemies in any other deck. This does make it so that, for an enemy with a Special/Global and an Instant reward, taking the Instant will discard the enemy and get rid of the effect, while saving it for Gold in the Rose Garden means that those effects stay in place until cleanup.
